TEACHER BANNED OVER INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A teacher employed at a Surrey school for 20 years has been banned from the profession after downloading hundreds of indecent images of children, following a decision by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA).
Nicholas James Heuvel, who taught at Box Hill School in Mickleham, was found to have downloaded and/or possessed up to 224 indecent images of children on his phone during 2016-2018.
He searched for indecent images of children on the internet between October 22-23, 2017.
In July 2023, a TRA panel issued a prohibition order banning him from teaching in England 'indefinitely.' He had previously accepted a police caution for making 222 Category C images, one Category B image, and one Category A (most serious) image at a location in Dorking in January 2021.
He was referred to the TRA on December 7, 2021, and on December 16, 2024, he admitted to all offences.
He worked at Box Hill School from 1997 until his resignation in 2017.
The panel considered his conduct to be of a serious nature, demonstrating misconduct that could seriously weaken public confidence in the profession, especially considering the high risk of repetition and lack of insight or remorse.
