ASKAM MAN SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE
2026-05-06 15:41: A man who admitted to domestic abuse has been ordered to pay his victim £500.Neil Darby, aged 42 and residing on Caspian Road in Askam, pleaded guilty to an offence under Section One of the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018 for an incident that took place in Dumfries.
The court was informed that between March 1, 2021, and February 28, 2022, Darby engaged in a pattern of abusive behavior towards his partner.
Details presented in court indicated that Darby acted aggressively, damaging kitchen cupboards during the course of his conduct.
He also falsely accused his partner of being unfaithful and physically restrained her by leaning on her neck with his arm.
His abusive actions continued, which included damaging a window.
In June 2021, the court heard, Darby made offensive remarks to his partner, accused her of infidelity, struck her on the head, grabbed her arm, demanded to see her mobile phone, prevented her from leaving her residence, and broke a door handle to stop her escape.
