DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR POURING BLEACH ON PREGNANT PARTNER
Neil Barclay, aged 41, was sentenced to over two years in prison after he poured bleach on his pregnant girlfriend, Joanne McKillop, in their home in Lochee.
The attack caused her skin to bubble as the corrosive liquid landed on her head, back, and legs.
Barclay pleaded guilty to assault to injury on June 8 of the previous year.
It was revealed during the court proceedings that he threw the bleach out of a window and did not know at that time that his partner was pregnant.
Barclay has a criminal history that includes four prior convictions for assault and domestic abuse, with one of his previous sentences being 15 months imprisonment in 2012 and a domestic offense in 2015.
The sheriff in charge decided that the only appropriate punishment was imprisonment, with his sentence being backdated to when he was remanded in custody on July 26.
The court recognized his remorse but stated that the custodial threshold had been exceeded.
The couple are now no longer together.
