LOUTH MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL

A Lincolnshire man convicted of sexually abusing a young girl has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Nathan Halford, aged 31 from Louth, appeared before Lincoln Crown Court where he was found guilty of six sexual offences following a trial in May.

Alongside his jail term, Halford was ordered to comply with a sexual harm prevention order and is required to register as a sex offender for life.

The court learned that Halford was reported to the police after the victim disclosed the abuse to family members and at school, despite Halford's denials of the offences.

The victim, whose identity remains protected, suffered significant psychological harm, including night terrors and anger management issues.

The charges against Halford included two counts of assault by penetration and four counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, spanning from October 2021 to July 2022.

During sentencing, Judge James House KC noted Halford's continued denial of guilt and his apparent lack of remorse, stating that he did not seem to appreciate the damage caused.

The court's proceedings highlighted the serious nature of the offences and the impact on the victim's mental health, emphasizing the need for justice and protection against future offences.
