In December 2014, a disturbing case emerged involving Nathan Ainsworth, a young man from Somercotes, who engaged in a sinister online scheme targeting underage boys through social media platforms. The case was brought to light after Ainsworth used manipulative tactics, including emotional blackmail, to coerce young boys into sending him explicit photographs of themselves via Facebook.

According to court proceedings, Ainsworth initially befriended the boys online, gradually gaining their trust through casual conversations. Once he established a rapport, he persuaded them to send private images, promising to delete the messages afterward. However, his true intentions became apparent when he threatened to publicly share the images on social media if the boys did not comply with his demands for more photographs.

The criminal activity came to the attention of authorities when a friend of the youngest victim noticed some of the Facebook messages. This friend encouraged the boy to report the matter to the police, leading to Ainsworth's arrest. The case was heard at Derby Crown Court, which is situated within the Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court jurisdiction.
