COWARDLY THUG JAILED AFTER VIOLENT ATTACK ON 85-YEAR-OLD MAN
Morgan Rees, aged 21 and from Middle Wallop, Stockbridge, received a prison sentence of three years and four months after admitting to Section 18 GBH charges at Salisbury Crown Court today. The incident occurred on January 25, 2025, when Rees was out drinking at various pubs and nightclubs in Salisbury.
During the night, he was involved in a disturbance on Brown Street.
After the initial altercation, Rees stayed nearby and appeared to have conflicts with several people, during which he emptied bins and scattered rubbish in the vicinity.
Around 3am, Rees approached a vehicle that had parked in a layby, opened the door, and proceeded to punch the driver.
He then dragged the driver out onto the ground, continuing his assault with punches and kicks.
Attempting to slam the car door, he became lodged, trapping the victim’s legs.
Rees then got into the driver’s seat and drove away, leaving the injured 85-year-old man on the ground.
The elderly victim later provided an impact statement in court describing how the incident affected him.
He said: “I cannot for the life of me comprehend why this guy attacked me, I am a defenseless 85-year-old man who was sat in my van minding my own business.
Not every day, but quite often, I think about what happened to me that day.
“Every time I shave my face and look in the mirror I have to always take care of myself because of the damage that was caused to my eye socket when I was smacked on the side of the head, pulled out the van and kicked.
“The memory is not a dim one and is still very real.
It has frightened me off going to Salisbury, or anywhere in the evening, on my own again.”
