Loughborough Rapist
In a case that has shocked the community of Loughborough, a 20-year-old man named Mohammed Ullah has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving two young boys. The incidents, which spanned over a period of time, came to light after the victims bravely reported their experiences to their parents, prompting a police investigation that uncovered the disturbing details of Ullah's actions.

Ullah pleaded guilty to one count of rape, which occurred between 2013 and 2014, when he was just 17 years old. The second victim, a six-year-old boy, was sexually touched by Ullah at the end of the previous year, an act that the young boy immediately disclosed to his parents out of distress. The first victim, who was only five years old at the time, was assaulted during the earlier incident, also reported by the boy to his parents, leading to the case being brought before Leicester Crown Court.

During the sentencing hearing, Recorder Ahmed Nadim expressed strong condemnation of Ullah’s actions. He stated, "You gave way to your personal sexual gratification in preference to the obligations and needs of society." The judge highlighted the severity of the offenses, noting that Ullah had targeted children of very tender years, exploiting their innocence and trust.

Recorder Nadim further explained that Ullah had taken advantage of opportunities to commit these crimes. He pointed out that the second victim’s parents were deeply distressed upon learning of the abuse, and that the child had suffered emotional trauma after revealing what had happened. Instead of showing remorse or taking responsibility, Ullah initially denied the allegations, causing additional distress and anxiety for the victims and their families. The police investigation revealed that Ullah had falsely claimed innocence and instructed the second victim to keep the abuse a secret, actions that compounded the harm caused.

Despite Ullah’s previous good character, the court found his conduct to be extremely serious. As part of his sentence, he was ordered to serve 10 years and six months in prison. Additionally, he was placed under a sexual harm prevention order for 12 years, which prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with children. His future addresses will be registered on the sex offender register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.

In addressing the court, the judge expressed concern that Ullah appeared unable to recognize that his offending was driven by a desire for sexual gratification. The prosecution’s representative, Paul Prior, conveyed the profound distress experienced by the victims’ parents, who faced not only the trauma of their children’s abuse but also the anxiety over potential health risks, including the transmission of diseases. The parents’ ordeal was compounded by the medical precautions they had to undertake, which added to their emotional suffering.

Ullah’s defense solicitor, Sarah Cornish, presented a plea for leniency, emphasizing Ullah’s feelings of shame and remorse. She noted that he was suffering from depression following the death of his father and expressed that he was genuinely sorry for his actions. In a letter read aloud in court, Ullah admitted, "I feel what I’ve done is absolutely sickening," and stated, "I am very sorry." He also acknowledged that he accepted the punishment handed down by the court, showing some degree of remorse for his conduct.

This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the need for community awareness regarding the protection of vulnerable children. The community of Loughborough is left to grapple with the aftermath of these disturbing events, and authorities continue to emphasize the importance of reporting any suspicions of abuse to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
