VIOLENT THUG LOCKED UP AFTER CRUEL ASSAULTS
Mohammed Ashfak, aged 31 and from Upton Park in Newham, was convicted on 11 counts related to his treatment of his partner.He appeared before Snaresbrook Crown Court last month and received a sentence of 19 years in prison, with an additional four years on licence after his release.
Between January and May 2020, Ashfak committed multiple acts of violence against the victim, including two instances of rape and filming the assaults.
Following her complaints to police, he further assaulted and threatened her, prompting her to withdraw her allegations.
He also issued threats to kill her.
The victim recounted how he instilled ongoing fear and trauma, which continue to affect her daily life.
Despite her efforts to report the abuse in April 2020, after an attempted rape at knifepoint, Ashfak was granted bail.
He then placed her under house arrest, during which she was found covered in blood in one incident.
Detective Constable Jennifer Newman described him as a dangerous individual likely to reoffend, and commended the victim for her courage in coming forward and supporting the case.
