MAN ADMITS MURDERING DAUGHTER, EIGHT, IN HOME

A man has pleaded guilty to murdering his daughter and the attempted murder of her mother in County Wexford last year.

Mohammed Al Shaker Al Tamimi, 35, admitted killing eight-year-old Malika Noor Al Kattib and the attempted murder of her mother Aisha Noor Al Kattib.

Malika was fatally wounded and her mother suffered non life-threatening injuries after they were stabbed at their home in New Ross on Sunday 1 December 2024.

Mr Al Tamimi, with an address of Lower William Street, New Ross, was remanded in custody for sentencing on 15 December.

Prosecuting counsel Anne Rowland told Mr Justice Paul McDermot that Ms Noor Al Kattib will be in a position to make a victim impact statement on that date.

She said the victim "was not feeling very strong at the moment" even though the court was in a position to give an earlier date for the sentence hearing.

Defence counsel Michael Bowman asked that all medical attention continue to be provided to Mr Al Tamimi in custody.

He replied guilty after each charge was put to him and faces the mandatory sentence of life in prison.
