MAN JAILED AFTER SEXUALLY ABUSING AND FORCING TEENAGER INTO MARRIAGE
Mohammed Al-Amin, aged 24, started abusing the victim during her early teenage years and also engaged in coercive and controlling behaviours towards her.In February of the previous year, she took the courageous step of reporting the matter to Bedfordshire Police.
The subsequent investigation uncovered that she had been forced into an Islamic marriage via a Zoom call, conducted in a language she did not understand, while still under 18 years of age.
Authorities revealed that she described the pressure she experienced, which included directives on her clothing and conduct designed to 'prevent bringing shame' to him and his family.
Furthermore, following the end of their relationship, Al-Amin sent threatening and abusive messages, including threats to kill her family members.
Al-Amin, who resides at Saxon Way, Great Denham, Bedford, was convicted of one count of forced marriage and two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
He received a prison sentence of three years and seven months at Luton Crown Court.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete a five-year rehabilitation program and will be on the Sex Offenders' Register for seven years.
