MOHAMED IGAL FROM ELEPHANT AND CASTLE JAILED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN SOUTHWARK

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Mohamed Igal, a 23-year-old man from Elephant and Castle, has been sentenced to nearly eight years in prison for a series of heinous sexual assaults on a young girl. The crimes took place over an extended period and involved grooming, manipulation, and repeated acts of sexual violence against a vulnerable 10-year-old girl.

According to court proceedings, Igal, a Dutch national, targeted the girl after establishing contact with her through social media under the alias “Wavey CJ.” The victim, who had recently relocated to London from abroad to live with her family, was described as vulnerable and impressionable, making her an easy target for Igal’s predatory behavior. The grooming process began on an estate in Southwark, where Igal met the girl in person and began his series of abusive acts.

The trial at Woolwich Crown Court revealed that Igal committed these acts repeatedly between July 2010 and May 2011. The court heard that the abuse continued until the girl moved away from the area, ending the period of his assault. It was only in 2015, when she was 15 years old, that the victim found the strength to come forward and report the abuse. Her courage was further tested when Igal attempted to contact her again, messaging her to request that she perform sexual acts on him.

The jury found Igal guilty of the rape of a female child under 13 years old on November 4, after a thorough trial. Following the verdict, he was sentenced on Friday, December 16, to a prison term of seven years and nine months. The case has garnered significant attention due to the severity of the crimes and the betrayal of trust involved, highlighting the importance of vigilance and support for victims of such heinous acts in the Southwark area and beyond.
