A sex offender from Devon exploited vulnerable young girls through online platforms, encouraging them to share degrading sexual content and engage in self-harm behaviors.

Miles Goninon, aged 29, was found in possession of thousands of indecent images and videos depicting children across all categories.

Residing in the Winkleigh area of Devon, Goninon appeared before Exeter Crown Court on Thursday, April 23, where he pleaded guilty to 25 charges.

These charges included possession and distribution of indecent images of children, engaging in sexual communication with minors, and inducing a child to perform a sexual act.

He received a 12-year prison sentence, was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further notice, and was permanently registered on the Sex Offenders' Register.

The court was informed that Goninon targeted numerous young girls online via Snapchat, establishing trust before abusing them.

His crimes were uncovered after police received intelligence indicating that a Snapchat account linked to Goninon's email had interacted with a minor and requested an indecent video.

Authorities traced the account to Goninon’s home, and in June 2024, officers executed a search warrant, arresting him.

During the raid, multiple devices were confiscated and subsequently revealed a large collection of disturbing child sexual abuse material and explicit chats.

Further investigation showed Goninon managed several Snapchat profiles pretending to be teenagers and had used these accounts to distribute child abuse content to others.

Authorities also discovered he possessed hundreds of indecent videos and images of victims he had solicited and recorded himself.

Some victims were identified through their Snapchat usernames, leading police to conduct home visits.

Goninon's victims were located globally.

During interviews, Goninon denied any criminal activity.

The presiding judge condemned Goninon for showing little remorse and lacking accountability for the severe harm caused to his victims.
