In a disturbing case that highlights the ongoing fight against child exploitation, Mike Czyzewoski, a 37-year-old resident of Stockport, was apprehended following a detailed police investigation into the possession and creation of child pornography. The investigation, which initially began thousands of miles away across the Atlantic Ocean, eventually led authorities to uncover links to the UK, culminating in a raid on Czyzewoski’s home in Stockport.
Authorities in Canada and the United States had been working to dismantle a large-scale child pornography ring when they discovered connections that pointed towards the UK. As part of this international effort, law enforcement agencies traced digital footprints that led directly to Czyzewoski’s residence in Stockport. During a search of his property, police seized his computer and conducted a thorough analysis.
The forensic examination revealed that Czyzewoski had stored more than 30 images and pictures on his device. The Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court was informed that many of these images were classified as extreme pornography, with a disturbing subset consisting of 11 indecent photographs of young children. These findings confirmed the severity of the material he had been involved with.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Czyzewoski was allowed to leave court without immediate detention. Instead, he was sentenced to a three-year community order, which requires him to adhere to strict conditions, including mandatory attendance at a sex offenders’ rehabilitation program. The judge presiding over the case, Timothy Mort, emphasized the seriousness of the offense, stating, “It is an artificial thought to consider you were not personally involved. Somewhere a child was being subjected to a situation in which they were required to involve themselves in sexual behaviour – something that will scar them for life.”
Prosecutor Lisa Boocock recounted that the police raided Czyzewoski’s terraced home in Edgeley last May. During the court proceedings, Czyzewoski admitted that the images found on his computer belonged to him. He pleaded guilty to charges of possession of extreme pornography and 11 counts of making indecent photographs of children, acknowledging his involvement in these criminal activities.
Defense lawyer Milena Bennett described Czyzewoski as a loner who had become involved in online communications with others sharing similar interests. She explained that his actions were primarily driven by his own sexual fantasies and that he had no prior convictions.
