ABERGELE MAN JAILED FOR DECADE-LONG CAMPAIGN OF SEXUAL ABUSE AND CHILD RAPE
A man with a facade of respectability who sexually abused both a woman and a young girl received a nearly 20-year prison sentence today.Michael Williams, aged 67 and from Abergele, engaged in multiple acts of rape and sexual assault from the mid-1990s, in a campaign that lasted close to a decade.
The court heard that Williams, a man who once served in the military, also confessed to voyeurism and possessing disturbing images of child sexual abuse.
Prosecutor Simon Rogers revealed that Williams began abusing the young girl when she was just eight years old, with the sexual abuse—including rape—continuing into her late teens.
The victim reported the abuse in 2020, feeling ready to come forward.
Additionally, Williams was accused of abusing a woman in the 1990s, describing himself as “sexually demanding” during police interviews.
Authorities seized devices from his home containing indecent images and search terms reflecting a sexual interest in children.
Police also uncovered videos recorded on a camcorder showing three women unwittingly filmed using the toilet, though none could be identified.
The judge sentenced Williams to a 20-year jail sentence, condemning him as a “dangerous offender” who posed a “significant risk to the public.” The court noted Williams had been living a false life as a diligent family man while covertly carrying out these crimes.
