A man was sentenced to eight years in prison and received a lifetime Restraining Order after being found guilty of raping a woman shortly after she had given birth.

The case was heard in Hull Crown Court over a week, with a verdict delivered last week on Friday, 6 February 2026.

Michael Wilkinson, aged 30 and living on Willerby Road, Hull, denied the charges that he raped the woman, who was still in the process of recovery following childbirth and had recently returned to her home.

His arrest came in August 2025, after a woman came forward to report that a man she knew had raped her and had been controlling and coercing her over an extended period.
