MICHAEL TEALL FROM LITTLE CHESTERTON SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN OXFORD
In August 2019, a disturbing case unfolded at Oxford Crown Court involving Michael Teall, a man from Little Chesterton near Bicester, who was convicted of a series of heinous child sex offenses. The court heard how Teall, aged 29 at the time, engaged in a prolonged campaign of grooming and abuse against a young girl, whose identity is protected by legal restrictions.Teall’s criminal behavior included multiple instances of sexual assault, during which he manipulated his victim by showering her with gifts such as dresses and underwear, aiming to establish a sense of trust and dependency. His grooming tactics extended over a period, during which he exploited the girl’s innocence and vulnerability.
One of the most disturbing aspects of his crimes involved taking explicit photographs of the girl after bathing her, capturing her in vulnerable moments while she was unable to defend herself. These images, taken on his mobile phone, serve as a stark testament to the depravity of his actions.
Teall had already admitted to several serious charges, including rape, two counts of sexual assault by touching, four counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, one count of incitement to penetration, and one count of taking indecent photographs of a child. The court was presented with evidence of his manipulative behavior and the extent of his abuse.
During the sentencing hearing, the court heard from the prosecution and the defense. His legal representative, Alistair Grainger, argued that Teall was a man in need of help, citing his difficulties with social interactions, employment, and forming relationships. Despite these mitigating factors, the presiding judge, Ian Pringle QC, emphasized the danger Teall posed to society.
Judge Pringle described Teall as a 'dangerous' offender and sentenced him to eight years in prison, with an additional four years on extended license. The sentence reflects the severity of his crimes and the ongoing threat he poses to the community, especially given the vulnerability of his young victim and the nature of his offenses.
