Grimsby Cleethorpes Sexual Abuser
In September 2020, a disturbing case involving a man from the North East Lincolnshire area culminated in a conviction that has left a lasting impact on a young girl and her family. Michael Taylor, a 33-year-old resident of Cleethorpes, was accused of committing a heinous sexual assault against a 12-year-old girl in Tattershall during August 2018.

Initially, Taylor denied the charges brought against him, specifically the allegation of sexually touching a child under the age of 13. His decision to contest the case led to a full trial, during which the evidence was thoroughly examined by a jury. Despite his refusal to admit guilt, the jury found Taylor guilty of the offence after deliberation.

Following the verdict, Taylor was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, September 25. The court handed down a prison term of two years for his actions. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.

The emotional toll of the crime has been profound for the victim and her family. The mother of the young girl spoke openly about the devastating effects the incident has had on her daughter’s mental and physical well-being. She described how her daughter’s confidence has been severely damaged and that she continues to suffer from panic attacks. The mother expressed her concern that her daughter’s fear of encountering Taylor’s vehicle has led to social withdrawal and anxiety.

Furthermore, the mother revealed that her daughter has experienced significant weight loss and that her academic progress has been negatively impacted. She shared her feelings of helplessness, stating, “I felt helpless because I could not repair the damage it has caused her. We could not go out because we were worried he might be there.” However, she also conveyed a sense of cautious optimism, noting that now they are beginning to regain their freedom and are working towards rebuilding their lives after the trauma inflicted by Taylor’s actions.
