CORBY SEX OFFENDER WHO ONCE FAKED HIS OWN DEATH BACK IN COURT AGAIN
In 2021, 54-year-old Michael Cordwell was sentenced to just over six months in prison after he posed as his own grieving wife and messaged a female friend, falsely claiming he was dead.
The woman, believing she was helping her friend, was left devastated and sympathetic, which led her to send more than £1,300 after receiving messages requesting financial assistance due to difficult circumstances.
Cordwell, from Butterwick Walk, was imprisoned following his guilty plea to fraud by false representation.
He served his sentence and subsequently was released.
Because of a prior sex offence conviction, he must adhere to strict conditions dictated by the sex offender register, which safeguards the public by monitoring convicted offenders.
In April, Cordwell violated these conditions and was brought before Northampton magistrates earlier this month.
He admitted to failing to meet the requirements of the sex offender notification scheme and was fined £323.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £129.
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Between June and August 25 at Corby, being a relevant sex offender, failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the notification requirements in that he did not notify the police of all his bank accounts, credit cards and debit cards within 3 days of acquiring them.
