REDDITCH TEEN MICHAEL STOKES ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING UNDERAGE GIRL
In a case that has drawn significant attention from the local community in Redditch, Michael Stokes, a 19-year-old resident of Exhall Close, narrowly avoided a custodial sentence after being convicted of serious sexual offenses involving a minor.The incident dates back to when Stokes was just 16 years old, and the victim was only 15.
According to court proceedings at Worcester Crown Court, the relationship between Stokes and the underage girl was characterized by controlling and manipulative behavior.
The prosecution, led by Shane Crawford, revealed that the girl decided to end their relationship due to Stokes's oppressive conduct, which included restricting her social interactions and preventing her from seeing her friends.
This breakup did not sit well with Stokes, who responded with malicious actions that further complicated the case.
It was disclosed that Stokes had hacked into the girl’s Facebook account, an act that demonstrated his invasive approach and disregard for her privacy.
Additionally, he persuaded her to send him indecent photographs of herself, which police later discovered stored on his computer.
These images were categorized as indecent and fell within categories B and C, indicating a range of explicit content.
The court heard that Stokes was first interviewed by police in November 2013.
During this initial interview, he claimed to believe that the girl was over 16 years old.
However, subsequent evidence and his own admissions clarified that he was aware of her true age at the time of their relationship.
Stokes pleaded guilty to three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor and to four counts of possessing indecent images, both still and moving, which he had created and stored.
