2006: JAILED OVER DAD ATTACK
A man from Church Hill received a 21-month prison sentence at Worcester Crown Court after assaulting his father and threatening his mother during a drunken outburst.Michael O'Gorman, aged 24, was found lying outside his parents' home on the night of September 29 and was described as having "gone berserk" during the incident.
He admitted to physically assaulting his father, causing actual bodily harm, and making threats of violence towards his mother.
Additionally, he pleaded guilty to breaching a community punishment order related to an earlier altercation outside a nightclub.
Prosecutor Nigel Hall described how Mr.
O'Gorman senior was pushed across the kitchen floor and struck his head on furniture.
When trying to restrain his son, he was bitten on both arms, with one wound bleeding.
During the chaos, O'Gorman threw two knives at his parents, both missing the target, prompting neighbours to call the police after hearing screams.
O'Gorman fled the scene but was later detained by officers.
While in custody, he spat at officers, including one who was restraining him.
Defence lawyer Andrew Evans explained that although O'Gorman had exhibited aggressive behaviour, it stemmed partly from personal tensions involving access to his children.
He expressed that his client recognized his mistakes and had apologized to his parents.
However, Recorder Martin Butterworth emphasized that O'Gorman's actions represented a dangerous escalation of violence that posed a serious threat to public safety.
