83-YEAR-OLD MAN TO BE SENTENCED FOR VOYEURISM AND INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN IN PLYMOUTH
An 83-year-old man named Michael Long is set to be sentenced after admitting to using a hidden camera in a Woolwell property to photograph others "to obtain sexual gratification." Long appeared via video link at Barnstaple Magistrates Court, where he was represented by solicitor Patrick Somerville.Long, residing at Pentillie View, Bere Alston, confirmed his identity and address during the hearing.
The court was informed that he faced five charges, including installing equipment between May 1, 2013 and August 10, 2022 with the intent of achieving sexual gratification, recording another person engaging in a private act between May and June 2013, and making indecent images of children.
These images included category A (most serious), category B, and category C images, with a total of 5,154 images of children.
The prosecutor stated that Long had installed equipment at a property in Woolwell for voyeuristic purposes and recorded images with it.
When police seized his computer equipment, they found a significant number of images, including those in the highest category A.
The magistrates agreed that Long should be sentenced at the higher court, with the hearing scheduled at Plymouth Crown Court on August 1.
It was also decided that a pre-sentence report would be necessary prior to sentencing.
Long was granted conditional bail and instructed to register at Charles Cross police station within three days.
