ROTHERHAM MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC STABBING
A man from Brinsworth, Rotherham, was incarcerated after stabbing a woman and subsequently claiming that she fell onto his knife.Michael Jones, of Mendip Rise, attacked his victim in the stomach on February 8, causing serious injuries that necessitated emergency surgery and extended hospital care.
He was detained by police at the scene following his claim that she fell during an argument.
Jones appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on October 6, where he was sentenced to ten and a half years in prison.
Investigating officer Natalie Duffy described the incident as highly violent, noting the severe injuries sustained by the woman that resulted in prolonged hospitalization.
She also expressed gratitude to the survivor for her bravery and highlighted the importance of seeking justice.
Duffy further emphasized that victims of domestic abuse should know they are not at fault and assured support from law enforcement.
