MICHAEL JAGO CAERPHILLY DERI SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL CONVERSATION

In April 2025, Michael Jago, a 66-year-old resident of Caerphilly, found himself at the center of a serious criminal case that highlighted the ongoing dangers of online sexual offenses involving minors.

The incident was uncovered during a police sting operation conducted over the internet, where Jago was caught engaging in explicit and inappropriate conversations with an individual who was posing as a minor, specifically a child.

Jago, who lives on New Road in the village of Deri, was identified as the individual involved in this disturbing case.

The events leading to his arrest and subsequent court proceedings took place on September 10 of the previous year, and the details were presented during a hearing at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

During the court session, Jago admitted to attempting to communicate sexually with a minor, a confession that underscored the severity of his actions and the importance of the case.

Following his guilty plea, the court handed down a sentence that reflects both punishment and measures aimed at rehabilitation.

Jago was sentenced to a 12-month community order, which requires him to complete 120 hours of unpaid work within the community.

Additionally, he is mandated to participate in a 30-day rehabilitation activity program designed to address underlying issues related to his behavior.

In addition to the community order, Jago is required to register as a sex offender for the next five years.

This registration is part of ongoing efforts to monitor and prevent further offenses.

He is also subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which will remain in effect for the same period, restricting his activities and interactions to protect potential victims.

Furthermore, Jago was ordered to pay a surcharge of £114 and costs amounting to £85, contributing to the funding of the justice system and victim support services.
