MICHAEL DYOS FROM SOUTHWATER SENTENCED AFTER ONLINE CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN WEST SUSSEX
A man identified as Michael Dyos, residing on College Road in Southwater, West Sussex, has been handed a prison sentence exceeding two years for serious sexual offences involving minors committed through online interactions. The sentencing took place on Monday, 17th March, at Lewes Crown Court, where Dyos was sentenced to a total of two years and six months behind bars.Dyos, aged 59, entered a guilty plea to multiple charges, including one count of arranging or facilitating an act that incited a child to engage in sexual activity. Additionally, he admitted to two counts of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which was already in place prior to the offences.
The court heard that on 8th July of the previous year, Dyos traveled from Southwater, a village near Horsham, to the coastal town of Littlehampton. His purpose was to meet with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old child, following an online chat of a sexual nature that he had previously engaged in with this person. His journey was interrupted when police officers, who had been monitoring the situation, met him upon his arrival in Littlehampton and promptly arrested him.
Following his arrest, Dyos was formally charged on 9th July. The case also revealed that Dyos was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order at the time of the offences, which remains in effect until April 2031, underscoring ongoing restrictions designed to prevent further harm.
Authorities emphasized the seriousness of the offences and the importance of safeguarding children from online predators. Dyos’s actions have been condemned, and his sentencing reflects the legal system’s stance on protecting minors from exploitation and abuse, especially in cases involving premeditated online grooming and subsequent attempts to meet minors in person.
