MICHAEL CARROLL SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR RAPE IN MARKET WEIGHTON

In December 2018, a man named Michael Carroll was handed a nine-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl in Market Weighton. The incident took place over two years prior, in November 2016, at a residence within the town. The case was brought to justice following a thorough investigation conducted by Humberside Police.

Detectives, along with specially trained officers, meticulously gathered evidence and interviewed the young victim, who demonstrated remarkable bravery in recounting her experience. The investigation was comprehensive, involving forensic analysis and detailed interviews, which ultimately built a strong case against Carroll.

The trial concluded at Hull Crown Court on December 21, 2018, where Michael Carroll, aged 26 at the time, was found guilty of the serious crime. The court's decision resulted in a sentence of nine years in prison, reflecting the gravity of his actions and the importance of justice for the victim.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police emphasized the significance of the investigation, stating, "On 21 December, the trial of 26-year-old Michael Carroll concluded and culminated in a sentence of nine years being ordered in respect of a single case of the rape of a 13-year-old girl."

They further added, "Following a long investigation where specially trained officers interviewed the brave victim who gave her account of the incident and forensic evidence was gathered, the case against Michael Carroll was built. It was found that in November 2016, Michael Carroll raped the girl at a house in Market Weighton. Michael Carroll will now spend nine years in jail for his crime."
