MELANIE GUNN FROM DRIBY SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN LINCOLNSHIRE
In a case that has shocked the local community, Melanie Gunn, a 37-year-old woman from the village of Driby in Lincolnshire, was sentenced to four months in prison after being found guilty of possessing indecent images of children and videos depicting extreme acts, including bestiality. The investigation into Gunn's activities was initiated after she took her computer to an IT repair shop located in Louth in July 2009.The owner of the repair shop discovered the disturbing content stored on her device and promptly reported the matter to the police authorities. This led to a detailed investigation by Lincolnshire Police, who, upon executing a search warrant at Gunn's residence, uncovered a significant collection of illegal material. The police found not only images classified as indecent but also some categorized as the most serious level of child pornography. Additionally, they discovered videos that depicted sadistic acts, including those involving animals, which are considered particularly heinous.
At Lincoln Crown Court, Gunn pleaded guilty to nine charges related to the possession of indecent images of children and extreme pornography. The court's decision resulted in her being sentenced to a four-month prison term. Furthermore, she was subjected to a lifetime ban from working with children, a measure designed to protect vulnerable minors from potential harm. Gunn will also be registered on the sex offenders register for a period of seven years. It is noteworthy that she has already resigned from her position as an independent learning manager at John Spendluffe College in Alford, Lincolnshire.
Detective Superintendent Guy Collings, who led the investigation, expressed his views on the case, stating, “Melanie Gunn was an outwardly respectable person, holding down a good job. I am delighted with the judge’s decision to impose a custodial sentence as it sends out the clear message to anyone considering accessing these types of images that they will be dealt with seriously and can expect to go to prison. Behind every image there is a real child being abused and in distress.”
