PAEDOPHILE AND RAPIST MATTHEW PUGH SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR PUBLIC ASSAULT AND CHILD ABUSE

A paedophile named Matthew Pugh, aged 40, was convicted of raping a vulnerable woman in front of passing motorists on the side of a busy road in Pontygwaith. The incident occurred after the victim, who was heavily intoxicated from crack cocaine and alcohol and in a drug-induced stupor, was left sitting outside in the pouring rain. Pugh took advantage of her vulnerable state, as she had clearly expressed disinterest and asked him to leave her alone. He supplied her with pregabalin, a drug that can cause drowsiness and fatigue, further exploiting her condition.The attack was captured by CCTV footage, which the judge described as "disturbing," showing Pugh raping her in public. He was described as being "excited" by the prospect of the assault. During the sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, it was revealed that Pugh had also been found with images of child abuse on his phone, which came to light when an acquaintance went to change music on his device and inadvertently accessed his Kik account. The police discovered six images of children, categorized as six in Category A, four in Category B, and seven in Category C, along with conversations where Pugh boasted about having no limits to his perversions and claimed there were "no limits" to his perverted interests, including sexual activity with young children and even a 74-year-old woman.Pugh had a total of six previous convictions, with the most serious being for possession of an offensive weapon. His online activity also included chats with other paedophiles, revealing a disturbing pattern of sexual interest in children, which he openly boasted about. At the time of the incident, he was on bail.The victim provided a personal statement to the court, expressing her distress, sleep difficulties, suicidal thoughts, and feelings of having something taken from her due to the assault. The judge sentenced Pugh to 13 years in prison with an extended licence of six years. He will serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before being considered for parole. Additionally, he was issued with a sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order.
