A sex offender from Fife has been enrolled in a specialized domestic abuse intervention program after persistently stalking a former partner. In December 2025, Matthew Johnson was sentenced to 150 hours of unpaid community service and added to the sex offenders register following charges of abusive conduct and a sexual crime.
The 25-year-old pleaded guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to behaving in an intimidating manner, attempting to gain entry to a residence in Leuchars, threatening to force his way in, and repeatedly knocking on a door on April 4.
While on bail, Johnson continued to contact the woman, visited her home unannounced, refused to leave when asked, and confiscated her mobile phone on June 5.
Residing in Tayport, Johnson also admitted to repeatedly visiting the property on May 8 and making contact through the doorbell.
In custody relating to the June 5 incident, Johnson was seen crying and repeatedly begging “please” as he was remanded.
Two days later, he received a sentence for the other charges and was placed under supervision for two years.
He is required to participate in the Caledonian Programme and has been issued a non-harassment order for the same duration.
