MATTHEW HARRISON FROM NETHERFIELD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN NOTTINGHAM
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Matthew Harrison, a 32-year-old man from Netherfield, was convicted of sexually abusing a young girl in a retail setting in Nottingham. The incident took place on Sunday, 16 January, around 4 pm, at a store located on Mansfield Road. Harrison was employed at the store at the time of the assault, which makes the case particularly troubling given his position of trust.According to reports, the young girl, who was of primary school age, was shopping with her father when Harrison approached her under the pretense of offering assistance in finding her favorite treat. Seizing the opportunity, Harrison lured the girl away from her father, creating a moment of vulnerability. Over the course of the next few minutes, he committed two separate acts of molestation, touching her inappropriately. Despite his actions, Harrison appeared unconcerned and casually led the girl back to her father, who remained unaware of the ordeal at the time.
The child's parents were later informed of what had transpired when she confided in them about the incident. This disclosure prompted immediate action, leading to Harrison's arrest by Nottinghamshire Police. An extensive investigation ensued, during which authorities conducted a search of his residence on Kenrick Street, Netherfield. The search uncovered substantial evidence indicating Harrison's sexual interest in young children, including material that was highly incriminating.
Harrison's offending was captured on CCTV footage, which played a crucial role in establishing his guilt. During police interviews, he admitted to two counts of sexual assault by touching, acknowledging his misconduct. His appearance in Nottingham Crown Court on a Thursday resulted in a significant sentencing. Harrison was sentenced to three years in prison, with an additional five years on licence following his release. Furthermore, the court imposed a comprehensive sexual harm prevention order, designed to restrict his behaviour and prevent any further offenses once he is out of prison. This case underscores the importance of vigilance and swift law enforcement response in protecting vulnerable individuals from predatory behaviour.
