2008: MAN JAILED FOR UNDERAGE SEX WITH GIRL
A man from Bromyard has received a prison sentence of three and a half years after pleading guilty to five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16.During proceedings at Hereford Crown Court, it was revealed that Matthew Harris, aged 22 and residing on High Street, was between 20 and 21 years old at the time of the crimes.
Judge David Matthews stated, "You were aware that your actions were unlawful, yet you continued." Despite the girl willingly participating, Harris was criticized for being "utterly selfish" for having sex while knowingly carrying a sexual infection.
His sentence included two and a half years for four of the charges and three years for the remaining charge, to run concurrently.
An additional six months was added to his sentence due to a breach of a previous order associated with a burglary and an affray.
Harris will face an indefinite ban from working with children and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for an unspecified period.
