SICK PREDATOR WHO ATTACKED GIRL WALKING HOME FACES JUSTICE 30 YEARS LATER
A man who assaulted a teenage girl walking home alone after a night out in Halifax has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his heinous crime.Prosecutor Christopher Bevan informed the court that Elliker, who was 23 at the time, ambushed his victim from behind while she was on a street in Salterhebble.
The girl was struck in the face, and Elliker seized her by the hair as he attempted to pull her further down the road, while she cried out for help.
During the assault, her tights were torn, and she feared he intended to rape or kill her.
The attack only halted when a bystander shouted, and Elliker appeared to regain his senses.
He then fled as the teenager called for assistance from staff at a nearby petrol station.
Now 53 years old, Elliker managed to avoid detection for nearly thirty years.
It was only in 2023 that forensic evidence was re-analyzed, connecting him to DNA found at the crime scene.
He ultimately admitted to charges of indecent assault and assault, receiving a prison sentence of 44 months.
His attorney noted that at the time of the incident, he was leading a tumultuous life involving heavy alcohol consumption and drug use, including cocaine and Ecstasy.
Judge Kirstie Watson ordered him to register on the sex offender register for life.
The court was told that the attack had a profound effect on the victim's life, with prosecutor Mr.
Bevan stating she had never been able to forget what happened to her.
