MAN PLEADED GUILTY TO THREE COUNTS OF MAKING INDECENT PHOTOGRAPHS OF A CHILD
Matthew Broom, who resides on Steel Close in Honiton, admitted to three charges of producing indecent images of a minor and one charge of possessing extreme pornography, covering the period from February 11, 2021, to January 12, 2024.During the investigation, authorities discovered that Broom possessed 58 images classified as Category A, 63 as Category B, and 28 as Category C, alongside two pictures that involved acts of bestiality.
Werjinder Baines, prosecuting, said a referral was made to the police regarding child sexual abuse material, and a linked email address was traced back to Broom.
He was arrested at his home and officers seized his devices.
Baines said some children depicted in the category A images were as young as two years old.
The court heard that the starting point for these offences in the sentencing guidelines is one year in custody.
