JAIL FOR MAN WHO CHOKED AND HARASSED FORMER PARTNER

An abuser who physically and psychologically abused his former partner has been sentenced to imprisonment.

Matthew Bradley was determined to have engaged in violent and controlling conduct towards the woman from September through October 2025.

Throughout their seven-week relationship, he assaulted her multiple times, including head-butting and punching her in the face, and strangling her on one occasion.

He also prevented her from returning to her home and engaged in stalking by waiting outside her residence.

A Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) was issued against Bradley on 15 October, barring him from contacting her or re-entering her property.

Nevertheless, he violated this court order and persisted in harassing her.

The police were alerted to his behaviour through a third-party witness, which resulted in his re-arrest.

While initially denying the charges, Bradley subsequently pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour, as well as intentional suffocation.

He also admitted to causing actual bodily harm during an assault and two additional counts of assault by beating.

On 4 March, at Nottingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to four years of imprisonment.

Furthermore, a ten-year restraining order was imposed, preventing him from any future contact with the victim for that duration.
