EAST PECKHAM PAEDOPHILE MARTYN LODGE SENTENCED FOR CHILD IMAGE DISTRIBUTION IN KENT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of East Peckham, Martyn Lodge, a 62-year-old resident of Old Road, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of viewing and sharing indecent images of children through online chat platforms. The investigation was initiated when Kent Police executed a search warrant at Lodge’s residence on July 6, 2017, uncovering a laptop that contained a significant collection of illegal images.The seized device revealed that Lodge had been actively accessing, downloading, and distributing such material over a period of approximately two years. The police confirmed that some of the images found on his laptop were classified as the most serious category, indicating the severity of the content involved.
During police interviews, Lodge confessed to officers that he had been engaged in the viewing, downloading, and sharing of indecent images of children for around two years. His actions included discussions with other users on the website Chatstep, where he used the platform to communicate about the sexual abuse of minors.
Following the investigation, Lodge faced multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of distributing such images. The case was brought before the court, and on Tuesday, March 13, he was sentenced to 12 months in prison. In addition to his incarceration, Lodge will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for a period of ten years, which aims to restrict his access to online content and prevent further offenses.
Furthermore, Lodge has been placed on the sex offenders’ register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat online child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from abuse and exploitation.
