HILTON MAN MARTYN DUNKS CAUGHT WITH OVER 1,000 CHILD ABUSE AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY FILES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Hilton, South Derbyshire, Martyn Dunks, aged 31, was found in possession of an extensive collection of illegal and highly disturbing material, including over 1,200 indecent images and movies involving children, as well as extreme pornography involving animals. The police raid on his residence on Foss Road, Hilton, took place early in the morning, specifically at 6:40 am on October 18 of the previous year, revealing a cache of illicit content stored on his electronic devices.During the police investigation, officers discovered that Dunks had accumulated a total of 1,213 indecent films and images, with nearly half classified as the most serious Category A, which typically depicts young children engaged in sexual acts with adults. The severity of these findings was compounded by the discovery of three particularly extreme pornographic movies, which depicted a woman engaging in sexual acts with a dog. These disturbing videos added to the gravity of the case and underscored the nature of Dunks' offending.
When police officers initially questioned Dunks at his Hilton home, he responded with a simple “no comment” to their inquiries. However, he later admitted that he had been downloading this sickening footage and images for over three years, revealing a prolonged period of offending. The analysis of his electronic devices confirmed the presence of 567 of the most serious Category A films and 30 images, along with 348 Category B movies and 25 images, and 298 Category C films accompanied by 57 images. The three extreme movies involving animals were also recovered during the search.
Further investigation uncovered search terms on his devices that indicated he had been actively searching the internet for indecent images of children, suggesting premeditation and intent. In his police interviews, Dunks admitted to being a victim of abuse himself during childhood, which he claimed may have contributed to his sexual interests. Despite his initial denial, he later made full admissions, acknowledging his long-standing sexual interest in children and his involvement in downloading and possessing such material over a period spanning from October 2012 to October 2016.
At Derby Crown Court, Dunks pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children and possession of three extreme pornographic movies involving animals. The court heard that he had accumulated these illicit materials over a four-year period. In sentencing, Judge Nirmal Shant QC handed Dunks a 10-month jail sentence, which was suspended for two years, citing concerns about the seriousness of his offending and the potential risk he posed to the public. The judge emphasized the public's justified concern regarding individuals who view such images and movies.
Judge Shant also noted Dunks' own admission of a sexual interest in children, which he suggested might stem from his own past experiences. The court ordered Dunks to work with the probation service to address his offending behavior and imposed a sexual harm prevention order to restrict his future activities. Additionally, he was sentenced to complete 180 hours of unpaid community work. Dunks' case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judiciary to combat the possession and distribution of child abuse images and extreme pornography, especially when involving animals, which remains a serious concern for communities across South Derbyshire and beyond.
