MARTIN TSHISEKEDI FROM NAILSWORTH JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN NAILSWORTH
In a case that has shocked the community of Nailsworth, Martin Tshisekedi, a 46-year-old resident of Lawnside, was sentenced to prison for the sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl at his home in Nailsworth. The incident, which took place in July of the previous year, involved Tshisekedi engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with the young girl without her consent. The court proceedings culminated in a guilty verdict last month, leading to his sentencing on Thursday at Gloucester Crown Court.Throughout the trial, Tshisekedi maintained his innocence, asserting that he was not guilty of the charges brought against him. Despite his claims, the court considered the evidence and the pre-sentence report, which influenced the judge’s decision. Judge Jamie Tabor QC, after reviewing the report, expressed confidence that Tshisekedi did not pose a continued threat to children. The judge explicitly stated, “I do not believe there is sufficient evidence to suggest he has paedophile tendencies or that what he did was grooming.”
In his remarks, Judge Tabor highlighted the positive testimonials from individuals who knew Tshisekedi well, including those with children who trusted him implicitly. The judge described the offense as a “moment of madness,” suggesting that it was likely triggered by alcohol consumption and a recent argument with his wife. Despite the mitigating factors, Tshisekedi was sentenced to one year in prison and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for the next ten years.
During the trial, prosecutor Mark Worsley detailed that Tshisekedi had sexually touched the young girl while they were watching television together at his residence. The case has left the local community in a state of concern, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding children and ensuring justice is served in such sensitive cases.
