JAILED FOR MORE THAN SIX YEARS AFTER HE PLEADED GUILTY TO CHILD SEX OFFENCES.
A 63-year-old man has received a prison sentence exceeding six years after admitting to multiple child sex offences.
Martin Steele, who resides on High Street North in Tiffield, began grooming a teenage girl in the year 2024.
Throughout this period, he sent her numerous sexually explicit text messages, frequently complimented her appearance, and encouraged her to partake in sexual acts as part of their supposed 'relationship'.
The criminal activities were uncovered following a report from a third party to Northamptonshire Police.
Steele was subsequently arrested and charged with five counts of engaging in sexual activities with a child and one count of sexual communication with a child.
Having pleaded guilty to these charges at Northampton Crown Court last month, Steele appeared again at the same court on August 8.
There, he was sentenced to a term of six years and nine months in prison.
Additionally, Steele was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order, which bans him from making contact with the victim.
