PAEDOPHILE SENT BACK TO JAIL FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES
A dangerous sex offender from Lincolnshire has been remanded back into custody after authorities uncovered a significant illegal activity during a routine inspection at his residence in Bardney.Martin Fry, aged 58 and residing on Manor Close in Bardney, was recently sentenced to a combined total of five years and ten months in prison following his conviction on multiple serious charges.
Fry’s sentence stems from six counts of creating indecent images of children, a profoundly troubling offense that underscores the ongoing threat he poses to the community.
This sentencing follows a conviction that also included a breach of the strict preventive measures previously imposed on him, known as a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).
The background to Fry’s criminal history is grim.
He served an initial six-year prison term after being convicted of abducting and sexually assaulting a young girl.
His criminal record is further marred by a four-year sentence related to the possession and production of indecent images of children, showcasing a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.
The recent incident occurred in July 2020, during a routine visit conducted by law enforcement officers to Fry’s residence in Bardney.
The officers had been monitoring his compliance with legal restrictions, which were in place due to his status as a registered sex offender.
During this visit, authorities identified that Fry was in breach of his SOPO and notification requirements, prompting further investigation.
As part of the enforcement process, officers confiscated Fry’s desktop computer along with various other digital devices.
A forensic analysis of these devices revealed the existence of a staggering 4,874 indecent images of children.
The investigation also uncovered that Fry had engaged in efforts to conceal his activity by deleting his internet search history and utilizing a web browser designed to mask his online activities, highlighting his attempt to evade detection.
Following these discoveries, Fry was swiftly arrested on charges related to the breach of his prevention order and the possession of child exploitation material.
His case proceeded to Lincoln Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to all charges on Wednesday, April 26.
The court subsequently sentenced him to nearly six years in prison, reflecting the gravity of his crimes.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Fry will be subject to lifetime registration on the sex offenders’ list and will be under a lifelong SOPO, ensuring continued monitoring and restrictions.
Authorities emphasize the importance of their work in safeguarding the community and preventing further offenses.
DC Nicola Paradowski, who led the investigation, expressed her relief and determination, stating, “I am glad that the judge recognised the seriousness of Fry’s offending and not only deemed him a dangerous offender, but also went outside the parameters of sentencing guidelines.
The viewing, possessing, and distributing indecent images of children is not a victimless crime.
Behind every video or photograph is a child who is or has been the victim of child sexual abuse.” She further remarked on the ongoing efforts of law enforcement, highlighting their diligent monitoring of registered sex offenders in Lincolnshire.
This includes regular visits, digital forensics, and protective orders designed to shield the public from potential harm.
Paradowski concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT), asserting, “This case sends a clear message that we will thoroughly investigate and take action when we suspect these offenses are being committed.”
