MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN
A 74-year-old man has been sentenced to 11 and a half years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual crimes involving minors.Martin Brunt, who resides in Warmley, South Gloucestershire, contested the charges, which spanned from 1992 to 2024.
However, he was found guilty in January and received his sentence on 1 May.
The case was initiated in February 2024 following a police report indicating that Brunt had committed a sexual act in front of a young child.
An investigation was promptly launched, led by specialist detectives.
Following his arrest on the day of the report, officers gathered additional allegations of similar offences.
Brunt was subsequently formally charged.
Despite maintaining his innocence and pleading not guilty to each charge, a jury at Bristol Crown Court convicted him in January of multiple offences, including engaging in sexual activity with a child, inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual acts twice, sexually assaulting a child under 13, committing an act of indecency with a child, engaging in sexual activity in front of a child, and three counts of exposure.
On top of the 11-and-a-half-year prison sentence, Brunt was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
