BARNSLEY OFFENDER JAILED FOR 28 YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT
Mark Woolley, aged 54 and from Kinsley, was found guilty and received a prison sentence for multiple severe sexual crimes carried out between 1998 and 2002 in the areas of Newport, Barnsley, and South Elmsall. The charges against him included four counts of raping a male under the age of 16, four counts of indecent assault on a boy under 14, four counts of gross indecency with a boy under 14, and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14.
After his trial at Leeds Crown Court, Woolley was sentenced to 28 years in prison, with an additional three years on license.
He was also mandated to follow an indefinite restraining order and Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The court’s decision highlighted his lack of remorse and refusal to admit guilt as reasons for the length of his sentence.
Detective Constable Alison Hibbert stated that Woolley’s crimes represented a series of serious sexual offenses against young victims, and she noted that law enforcement efforts to gather evidence across jurisdictions had been crucial in securing his conviction.
His offenses, spanning several years, inflicted considerable harm on his victims.
Authorities hope that his incarceration will help bring some degree of justice and reassurance to those affected.
