A man responsible for raping and sexually abusing a teenage boy beginning in 2015 has been given a prison sentence.Mark Watson received a 12-and-a-half-year jail term at Leicester Crown Court on Thursday, July 9.
The charges against the 55-year-old were brought to light in 2021 when the now-adult victim disclosed the abuse to a third party.
The victim recounted that the abuse occurred between 2015 and 2018.
The victim reported to officers from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit (CAIU) that Watson had repeatedly raped him and compelled him to take part in other sexual acts.
He also described being physically assaulted and frequently threatened with violence by Watson during this period.
On March 2, at the same court, Watson was convicted after a trial of two counts of rape and two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
Watson, of Linford Street in Leicester's Belgrave district, was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that remains in effect indefinitely.
Additionally, he is on the sex offender register for life and is subject to a lifelong restraining order that bans him from contacting the victim.
