CONVICTED PAEDOPHILE AND HORSE KILLER FACES HARASSMENT CHARGE
A convicted paedophile and horse killer has appeared in court in relation to multiple charges of harassment and breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).
Mark McGurk (27) from Glenpark Road, Gortin, is charged with pursuing a course of harassment against three women and a man between September 18 and 26.
It is further alleged that he breached the SOPO six times from October 14, 2024, to September 19, 2025, including charges of staying overnight at an address without approval, having contact with a child, and failing to notify his Risk Manager of an address change.
McGurk, previously from Cookstown, was already on bail for animal cruelty when he sexually assaulted a child at a birthday party in October 2019 and pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child.
He was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment and placed under a SOPO.
He was also involved in the stabbing and killing of a horse filmed in a grotesque act of revenge.
Detective constable explained that all charges may be connected, highlighting that McGurk is banned from contact with children, yet a 15-year-old girl reported he contacted her via social media asking her to reach her sister, with whom he is in a relationship.
Police observed CCTV footage of his vehicle parked at different addresses overnight, raising concerns of further breaches.
McGurk admitted to contacting the child last year but denied further interactions and was remanded in custody to appear again on October 8.
