MARK LAW FROM BALLINGRY SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND VIOLENCE IN FAMILIAR SCENE
A man from Ballingry has been formally sentenced after being found guilty of a series of controlling and abusive behaviors directed towards his former partner. Mark Law, aged 23 and residing on Lochtyburn Way, appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court to face the consequences of his actions, which had been established through a trial process. The court heard that between April 1, 2019, and February 2 of this year, Law engaged in a sustained pattern of abusive conduct both at his residence and at Cleikimin Crescent in Ballingry. His behavior was characterized by efforts to isolate his partner from her social circle, repeatedly accusing her of infidelity, and using derogatory language to demean her. Law also persistently demanded to know her whereabouts, creating an environment of constant surveillance and control.
On November 15 of the previous year, Law's violent tendencies escalated during an incident at his home. He attempted to punch another woman, pushed her through a doorway, and then shut a door behind her, trapping her wrist in the process. This act resulted in injury to the woman. The court also noted that Law exhibited aggressive behavior during the incident, shouting and swearing repeatedly, further demonstrating his volatile nature.
In addition to the assault, Law was convicted of engaging in aggressive conduct and using abusive language on multiple occasions. The court took these offenses seriously, leading to a sentence that includes a two-year community payback order. As part of his rehabilitation, Law will participate in the Caledonian Programme, which is designed for domestic offenders, aiming to address underlying issues and prevent future violence.
Overall, the case highlights the serious nature of domestic abuse and controlling behavior, with Law’s actions having caused significant distress and harm to his victims in the Ballingry area.
