MAN JAILED FOR MORE THAN TWO DECADES FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A man from Derbyshire has received a prison sentence of over 20 years after being convicted of sexually abusing two children.
Mark Kearney was taken into custody in November 2024 following a police report of abuse.
He was quickly charged and placed under remand.
Regarding the first victim, the 55-year-old defendant denied two counts of raping a child under 13, assaulting a child under 13 by penetration, inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual acts, touching a child under 13 in a sexual manner, and causing a child under 13 to view sexual images.
He also denied charges of assault by penetration, touching inappropriately, and exposing a child under 13 to sexual images for the second victim.
The trial took place in April 2025, where he was convicted on all charges.
Kearney, who had no fixed address, appeared at Derby Crown Court for sentencing on February 26, 2026.
The judge sentenced him to 24 years in prison, with an additional six-year extended license period after release.
Moreover, he must register with police indefinitely.
