Offender with past horse abuse convicted of stalking and tracking victim’s car

OFFENDER WITH PAST HORSE ABUSE CONVICTED OF STALKING AND TRACKING VICTIM’S CAR

A man known as Mark Findlater, who previously served time for distributing disturbing videos of two individuals having sexual activities with horses, has now admitted to stalking one of his co-accused.

Findlater, aged 36, even placed a tracking device on the car of the person he was stalking, according to court reports.

The stalking incidents included following the victim's car and standing atop a hill overlooking the field where the victim's horses were grazing.

It was on March 17, 2020, that Lee-Paterson noticed a black, circular object protruding from underneath his vehicle, which was confirmed to be a tracker.

The court heard that Findlater had also previously stolen horse-related equipment from Lee-Paterson amid land sale disputes.

Findlater, who resides at Sidlaw Range, Kirriemuir, Angus, pleaded guilty to charges of theft and stalking.

His defense argued that his mental health, recently diagnosed as autism spectrum disorder with obsessive and compulsive tendencies, contributed to his behavior.

Sheriff Eric Brown sentenced him to 12 months supervision, a four-month curfew, and imposed a five-year non-harassment order.

It was also revealed that in a prior case, Findlater coerced others into participating in harmful activities involving horses.

The court proceedings highlighted ongoing concerns about his mental health and behavioral struggles.
