VILE YOUTH CLUB CHILD SEX ABUSER JAILED
A volunteer at a youth club who imprisoned young girls in a computer room and assaulted them has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.Mark Chudley, of Mount Pleasant Road in Brixham, was convicted on multiple charges including two counts of rape, three of false imprisonment, gross indecency towards a child, and nine counts of indecent assault.
It was revealed in Exeter Crown Court that he repeatedly assaulted a girl aged between three and six years old.
A judge described Chudley, aged 39, as one who had stolen the innocence of his victims.
The court heard that he kept the primary victim silent by threatening to kidnap her and prevent her from seeing her family if she disclosed his actions.
Judge Erik Salomonsen commented: “These crimes were carried out intentionally.
You plotted and specifically targeted a vulnerable girl, abusing your position of trust.
There were multiple victims involved.
The court also noted that the girl, who was subjected to repeated rapes, provided a poignant account of how her life has been affected.
She suffers from panic attacks, feels exhausted, and believes her life has been irreparably damaged.
She feels she lost much of her childhood and has struggled to recover from the trauma.
In her testimony during a December trial, the girl recounted how she and two friends were lured into a computer room at a youth center in south Devon and subsequently abused.
It was established that Chudley kept the girls confined and only released them if they obeyed his demands.
Chudley denied all allegations, claiming they were false or based on misunderstandings.
