Faversham Child Sexual Abuser
In November 2016, Mark Burford, of Hazebrouck Road, Faversham, admitted to purchasing images of child sexual abuse from an international dealer based in North Yorkshire. Burford, aged 34 at the time, pleaded guilty to six counts of possession of indecent images at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court.
The investigation was triggered after North Yorkshire police officers tipped off Kent Police. A raid on the home of the dealer uncovered dozens of Category A images, depicting children aged between four and eight being raped. The dealer had sold these images to 51 other paedophiles worldwide.
Following his arrest, Burford was released on conditional bail, which included a restriction from having any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16. He was scheduled to be sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court at a later date.
In July 2017, it was reported that Burford had been jailed for two years. He has now been released, serving his prison sentence.
