MARCELLUS OSBORNE'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN BIRMINGHAM REVEALED
| Red Rose Database
Birmingham Rapist
A young girl from Birmingham endured a traumatic and horrifying ordeal after being lured to a flat in the city by a man she initially met through Facebook. The victim, whose identity remains protected, kept silent about the assault for six long years, carrying the weight of her trauma in silence. It was only during a chance encounter on a Birmingham street that she confronted her attacker, Marcellus Osborne, which led to a violent and savage attack on her once again.
According to court records, Osborne first began communicating with the girl in 2010. Their online exchanges eventually culminated in a face-to-face meeting. During this initial meeting, Osborne suggested they attend a party together. Trusting him, she agreed, and he, along with another man, picked her up. The trio then drove to a house believed to be located in Aston, Birmingham. Upon arrival, it became evident that no party was taking place. Instead, she was taken into a room where a third man was present. The court heard that the atmosphere was unsettling, with the men smoking cannabis and behaving in a manner that made her feel increasingly uncomfortable and vulnerable.
Tragically, her ordeal worsened when Osborne ordered her to remove her clothes. She was then subjected to a brutal rape while the other men watched and laughed at her suffering. The assault was not isolated; she was forced to perform sexual acts, and later, another man had sex with her while she was instructed to do the same with a third individual. After the assault, she was thrown out of the room, left to spend the night crying and curled up in despair. Her escape came when she managed to leave the house, taking a bus into Birmingham city centre and then catching a train to return home.
Years later, on September 6, 2016, she recognized Osborne in a queue for a bus in Birmingham. Recognizing him, she sat behind him and dialed 999, but expressed her frustration with the police response at the time. Later that day, she confronted Osborne publicly, accusing him of raping her when she was just 17. His reaction was violent; he pushed her, causing her to fall. She followed him as he disembarked from the bus, which led to a brutal physical assault. During this attack, she was beaten so severely that she lost consciousness and sustained injuries, including a fractured eye socket.
Osborne was arrested the following day. The court proceedings revealed that the trauma from the rape had a lasting impact on her mental health, leading to depression, suicidal thoughts, and turning to alcohol as a coping mechanism. In 2017, Osborne was tried and convicted of causing grievous bodily harm, receiving a sentence of 10 years in prison, which he is currently serving. The prosecutor also disclosed that while in custody, Osborne had sexually assaulted two female prison officers.
At 29 years old, Osborne is now residing in a mental health facility in Birmingham. He had previously admitted to the rape, and the court ordered a hospital stay under the Mental Health Act. Medical assessments diagnosed him with paranoid schizophrenia, and authorities cited the risk of further offences if he were to be released. The case highlights the profound and lasting impact of his crimes on the victim, as well as the ongoing concerns regarding his mental health and potential for future harm.
