COUNTY DURHAM MAN WHO BOASTED ABOUT KILLING PARTNER SENTENCED TO LIFE
A man convicted of murdering his partner has been sentenced to life in prison after revealing to friends that he ate a kebab while watching her die at their shared home.
Lisa Leckenby, aged 28, was found dead in her residence in Blackhall, close to Peterlee, County Durham, on August 9.
She had suffered severe assault and stab wounds.
Marcel Allan, 42, had previously admitted to her murder in court.
It was disclosed during the proceedings that Allan, who was on a suspended sentence for assaulting Leckenby at the time, contacted an ex-partner afterward, stating: "I stabbed her and saw her breathe her last while I was eating a kebab with chilli sauce.
It was red, and I said, 'This is your blood'." He also took money from her bank account, telling a friend she no longer needed it because "she is dead now." The victim’s body was only uncovered after Allan phoned police, disguising his identity.
Court testimonies revealed that Allan and Leckenby had a volatile relationship, and at the time of the killing, Allan was serving a four-month sentence suspended for two years for common assault against her.
Judge Esmond Faulks condemned the act as "horrible and unforgivable," adding, "You carried out a violent assault on Lisa Leckenby.
You admitted to stabbing her, stamping on her face, and letting her bleed to death in your house.
When speaking to witnesses, Allan showed no remorse and boasted about the murder, claiming she deserved it." Allan received a life sentence with a minimum term of 15 years. Thus, his release is not expected until at least 2038.
