MARC TURNBULL'S HORRIFIC CRIME IN GRANGE PARK: DOG SHOT FIVE TIMES AND LEFT FOR DEAD

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Grange Park, Marc Turnbull, also known as Marc Corbett, was convicted in 2013 for a brutal act of animal cruelty involving his pet dog, Rocky. Born on February 13, 1975, Turnbull's most recent known address was Dainty Grove in Northampton. His actions have led to a lengthy ban on keeping animals, which will last until 2033.

According to reports, Turnbull attempted to end Rocky’s life in a horrifying manner. He claimed that he saw no other option after failing to find a new home for the dog. The incident took place when Turnbull tied Rocky’s lead to a post and proceeded to shoot him five times in the head with an airgun. Believing that the shots had not been effective, Turnbull then struck Rocky with a shovel and abandoned him in a ditch, possibly concealing him in a black bin liner that was discovered nearby.

Remarkably, Rocky was found alive three days later by a council worker who was clearing rubbish from a lay-by in the vicinity. The dog was rushed to a veterinarian, where it was revealed that he had sustained multiple severe injuries. These included a deep wound to the back of his head, bleeding from both eyes, and signs of being underweight. Veterinarians conducted x-rays that confirmed Rocky had been shot five times in the head and once in the leg. The open wound on the back of his head extended down to the skull’s ridge, indicating a blow to the head.

Despite the gravity of his injuries, Rocky survived and was eventually rehomed with a caring family. His rescuers described him as a “lovable dog” with a “very good-natured” temperament, noting that he appeared to have suffered no significant long-term effects from his ordeal.

The RSPCA was able to identify Turnbull as Rocky’s owner through the dog’s microchip. Authorities found an airgun at Turnbull’s property and he voluntarily attended Wellingborough Police Station for questioning, where an RSPCA officer was present. During the court proceedings in August 2013, Turnbull’s defense lawyer stated that his client was suffering from anxiety and believed that Rocky was causing distress to his wife, Emma Turnbull, which contributed to his actions.

Turnbull was sentenced to 20 weeks in jail and received a 20-year ban on keeping any animals. The case drew widespread condemnation, highlighting the importance of animal welfare and the consequences of cruelty. Rocky’s story remains a testament to resilience and the importance of vigilant animal protection efforts.
